From very low stance to standing form. For me the best form is just standing straight with no hand raise up to cover your body. Yeah... just the easy standing follow your comfort.

Why by just standing straight with out raise the hand blocking is the best way to defense yourself?

1) Your enemy will not able to read your movement. If your stance with left leg on front, your opponent can read where you would move if he/she attack this way or that way. You can make a surprise movement easily without he/she realized.

2) Your enemy will not do the real attack at the blocked area. He/she will do the real attack on the open area. So by standing you have a lot of opening area means that once he/she attack you it is the real attack. At this time easy for you to enter him/her and take him/her down.

3) By standing straight you can easily move to any direction you want, more flexible and you can save much more energy.

What Is Silat???

Before I know what silat is and when people ask me about it... what I imagine was a very slow and boring martial art with nonsense slow mo dance. That is before i fall in love with this very valueable art.

Actually silat itself comes from the Malay word. What the oldies told me it is a shortform of word SILATURRAHIM which means Freindship. So what this freinship thing got to do with martial art.

Yes of course it is a fighting art which have the deadly technic inside. But it doesn't mean that the Pesilat(person who practice the silat) can easily beat/kill people, do bad things to other people. In silat itself there are so many many pantang larang (law) which train the pesilat to be humble and not try to show off their ability.

That is why long time ago not many people have a chance to learn silat. The Guru are so selective to choose student. Only who have a clean heart can learn silat. This to avoid the missuse of silat by the student. So I can say silat it self is to promote peace and freindship.

One more word I would like to introduce. The word is Pendekar which means the person who is expert in silat practice. Can say like the Musketeer. The Pendekar actually comes from the word PANDAI AKAL. Pandai is Clever and Akal is Mind or Thought. So as a pendekar the silat practioner is a person who clever to use his head.

If we look to this two words Silat and Pendekar can say that a person who practice silat is a person who who use his mind, thoughts to spread peace and freindship.

This is just a very basic element in Silat which is so important to understand and to feel. Okay I will write more and share with you about silat.
